Why do I keep the Biblical Sabbath?

I grew up Baptist, right across the street from the church as a matter of fact.  We were in there every Sunday morning and night, as well as Wednesday nights.  At the tender age of 9, I accepted Christ as my savior and was baptized at this loving community church.
The 10 Commandments were posted on the back wall and I remember asking one of the deacons why we go to church on Sunday, the first day of the week, instead of Saturday, the seventh day of the week.  His response was, “We go to church on Sunday to honor Jesus, He rose from the grave on the first day of the week.”.  As a child, I was satisfied with that answer.

Years passed, I married a fine woman, her name is Dawna.  She is what I call “a seeker of truth”.  God’s truth.

I was working home health and one of my patients gave me a video about the end-times.  I took the video just to be nice to her fully intending to throw it away.

About a week later, I came home to my lovely bride watching the video, she had her bible out with a pen and paper.  “Have you seen this?”, she exclaimed when I came through the door.  I said “Oh throw that away, that’s trash.”

The video was produced by Amazing Facts, I will include a link to their website on my resources page when I figure out how to do that.  She was attempting to disprove what she was watching with the bible and was unable to do so.

She went to the website for Amazing Facts and was watching their Prophecy Code series by Doug Batchelor.  One of the sermons was on the Sabbath.  I watched it.

My life forevermore changed.

In the sermon, Pastor Doug used ONLY bible scripture to support that we should observe the Biblical Seventh-Day Sabbath.

Questions flooded me:
What does it matter about the 7th day, I honor Jesus on Sunday?
The Ten Commandments were nailed to the cross weren’t they?
Jesus is my Sabbath, right?
The Ten Commandments were only for the Israelites, right?
Does the Law of God still apply?
What is sin?
Didn’t Jesus fulfill the law at Calvary?

On and on they went.  Every question I used to justify keeping Sunday was refuted or disproved by scripture.

We learned this issue IS relevant to our lives. As we learned the answers to the questions, we discovered modern-day protestant churches are NOT teaching what God’s Word clearly declares. Thee Ten Commandments are just as valid today as when God wrote them on stone with His very finger.

And this was only the beginning of our incredible journey. Using scripture alone, we studied this matter deeply for the better part of a year.

“In religion and politics people’s beliefs and convictions are in almost every case gotten at second-hand, and without examination, from authorities who have not themselves examined the questions at issue but have taken them at second-hand from other non-examiners, whose opinions about them were not worth a brass farthing.”

For those of you brave enough to look at what God’s Word has to say on this matter, I have included the detailed study I did on the Biblical Sabbath in the Bible Studies section.
God Bless!

Earnestly contending for the faith,
